With the best will in the world, a £3k XC90 is very likely going to be a minefield of horrendously expensive issues. A V50 or V70 is probably a better prospect. Volvos are safe cars and they did pioneer a lot of safety equipment and just generally having an ethos of thinking about safety first when designing the car.
I'm looking to get a $2000 second vehicle, and I'm looking at 99-2002 era used volvo sedans. In that range, what would be the most reliable volvo sedan, statistically? What engines or trannies to avoid? I'm open to S60 or S80. Here in the Seattle area you can find a few good looking vehicles from that era every month. Thanks for the advice.
Nice looking, reliable, but small. I used to own a V70, which I liked a lot, and when it expired moved over to a v50. While it is nice to look at, and has a pretty timeless look (so even though it is 10, still looks modern). It has the same economy as my previous v70 although it is a smaller car. Seems reliable enough, have done 20k in a year

USA P3 reliability / questions. Former USA V50 owner, replaced it with a Prius for the sake of reliability but I'm itching to get back in a Volvo as a daily driver here in the next few months, quirks and all. I'm looking at V60s and V60 CCs ('15-'18). Any owners want to chime in on the general reliability (good OR bad) and / or common problems
